BetterBedderBureau |Findings |

The Tulo Mattresses are inexpensive foam mattresses available online and at Mattress Firm locations.  The Tulo Comfort Series consist of a 10″ foam mattress available in three different firmness options.  The Tulo Liv is a 9″ foam mattress available in one firmness level

Our review of the Tulo mattress found that the three different firmness options come in handy based on the body composition and sleep preferences of the sleeper.  While the mattresses are on the lower end of the scale from a price point perspective, they do perform quite well conforming around the body and alleviating any pressure points.  The edge support is lacking on both models of the Tulo mattress, but that is to be expected from an all foam mattress.

Tulo Comfort Series mattresses are available in three different firmness ratings: ‘Soft,’ which corresponds to a 4 (or Medium Soft) on the BBB 1-10 firmness scale; ‘Medium,’ which corresponds to a 5.5 (or Medium); and ‘Firm,’ which corresponds to a 7 (or Firm). The Tulo Liv is a 5.5 (or Medium Firm).  The table below features a breakdown of the Tulo’s individual layers and components. Please note that Mattress Firm/Tulo do not disclose the foam densities for any of the three firmness options available for the Tulo Comfort Series or the Tulo Liv.

The Tulo is priced very affordably for any category.  If you are looking for an entry level memory foam mattress and need it delivered in a timely fashion, Tulo is a solid choice.  The Tulo is comparable to Tuft & Needle and even Nectar, but the beauty is that you can test it out at over 3,500 Mattress Firm locations throughout the country

This report is based on the Tulo Comfort Series mattress.

What Type of Sleeper Is Best Suited for a Tulo Mattress?

Based on our customer feedback, the Tuo Mattress has received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions. Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different mattresses. Sleeper comfort and spinal support are the most important factors when it comes to selecting a mattress.

As you can see, the Tulo is a great choice for back sleepers of most weight categories, and performs quite well for those who sleep on their side. Based on the body composition and sleep preferences of the sleeper, we would recommend the firm option of the Tulo Comfort Series for anyone over 200 lbs

For more information on sleeping positions please see our guides for side, back, stomach and combination sleepers.

Our testing process found the Tulo should also be great for you if…

  • You’re looking for an affordable memory foam mattress
  • You love the feel of memory foam – sleeping more “in” than “on” a bed.
  • You like the ability to choose between firmness options
  • You sleep with a partner and want to limit the movement you feel on the bed.

All the details

FIRMNESS 5.5 (Medium)
WARRANTY 10 Year, Limited
Durability 3 – Tulo Mattresses are designed to perform for six to seven years, which is on par with similar models. The mattresses have been sold for less than five years, and longevity past the five-year mark has not been evaluated, but owners report minimal sagging and deterioration.
Motion Isolation 4 – Customer reports indicate that the sleep surface absorbs and reduces motion transfer to a significant extent.
Off-gassing 3 – Some off-gassing is to be expected with the Tulo Mattress, but these odors will dissipate rather quickly.
Conforming 4 – The Tulo Mattress provides above-average pain and pressure relief compared to owners of other foam mattress models.
Sex 3 – Tulo Mattresses are somewhat bouncy, but they may not be responsive enough for some couples.
Temperature Neutrality 3 – A small number of Tulo Mattress owners claim their mattress sleeps excessively hot, but most say temperature neutrality is not a significant issue.
Edge Support 2 – Edge support is questionable with the Tulo Mattress and sinkage may occur along the perimeter of the bed.
Noise 5 – Tulo Mattresses are virtually silent when bearing weight.
